I often experience stress for different reasons at different times. Although this makes me very uncomfortable at first it triggers motivation in me to solve what it is that is causing me the discomfort. So becoming very conscious of this idea this week got me to thinking. Whats it for? If its to signal me to be motivated to find solution how can I make it more comfortable to experience it. Should I know by knowing the fact that stress is meant to be a signal how should I react. Should I finding a calming method and continue to be aware of the fact that I am needing to find an answer. I am thinking this cause I want to release the tension that can be caused. I also would like to calm my desire to figure it all out right then and be comfortable with the journey to finding the answers.

i just try to look at stress as a tool to keep the balance. we can't be happy every single moment can we? well, i can't. even though everything is perfect sometimes, every now and then something (even though it might be silly) stresses me out. and then i just say to myself, "well, hello there, Stress. I've been expecting you......" and this ridiculous statement makes me laugh to myself. it might not even remotely cure the situation, but it definitely lightens the load a little. and it makes my husband laugh too. when something stresses him out, like construction noise in heavy traffic for example---he hates that--- i tell him to make the situation bigger and bigger until it just is so big you can't see it anymore and then it goes away. that makes him laugh too. we use that on each other when we need to. so anyway, my point is.....i think...... that without some intervals of stress in our lives, we wouldn't ever appreciate the good times when nothing is wrong at all.
another thing i tell him to try when he gets stressed is to try breathing in and out at the same time. have you ever tried to do that? heh heh _________________ There is no theory of evolution, just a list of creatures Chuck Norris allows to live.

TwinkeToes! I never thought of making the situation bigger, and bigger, until it disappears. I'll have to try that.. it's very interesting, and the opposite of what you'd think to do, like make it smaller and smaller, until it's gone. Seems like it would disappear once I had a brain hemorrhage!!!
I'll have to try it though.

| I want to be happy all the time, I do get stressed out and then I just brush it off because it will not do any good. I am not a yeller nor do I throw things. Some times I will get so aroused by anger that I will smoke a cigarette and then I feel awful because that is not what I really want to do. I just try my best to think of the good in my life and realize that what ever the situation it really can't be that bad for long. Mel, I love you |

Twinkle toes, try breathing in and out at the same time, eh? Ahem.
Yep, we can expect to have stress in our lives from time to time, and it does help us to deal with things and also appreciate the relaxing and happy times we have. Enjoying the simple pleasures of life make me happy..... it doens't take having a lot of material things which I think can get in the way of true happiness. Good times with family and friends, enjoying being outdoors in the fresh air, playing with pets, developing new pictures, reading a new book, cooking a new dish, watching a movie with someone who love, enjoying the changes of the seasons, being fascinated with colors, creating something of your own design, watching children play and hearing them laugh, blowing bubbles, walking in the rain for the fun of it, wearing a new hat, cuddling, toasting marshmallows, going to a park, taking scenic rides in the car, star-gazing, looking at and smelling beautiful flowers, feeling the ocean breezes, ...... and so much more, are some of the things that make me happy. I especially love doing things with my family. |

I found this on the web. I have a couple of 'smiley' balls which I use as stress balls, and they do help sometimes....
Quick Stress Busters :
Play with a Stress Ball
Those stress balls really do work, which is why 80 trillion of them are sold a year. Keep one on your desk, one in your car, one in your home, whereever you might need one. If you start to feel stressed, pick up the ball and focus on it, on the repetitive motion of squeezing and releasing it. Even 30 seconds of that focus can help you relax. |

I power walk up and down the drive way while saying positive affirmations aloud. I especially like to counter any negative thoughts with oh yeah well this is what I will smash you with . Its actually working wonders for me. I have been steadily able to change my inner dialog. Plus I have a habit of saying I'm stupid or and idiot. So if it comes out my mouth I say no I'm not I am smart, cute, sweet, and lovable.
That is what I am doing so far. My issue isn't always actually events though. Everything in life can be fine and dandy then pop I feel like I am this guy being beat up emotionally. I have to say I have really made a huge amount of improvements this month and haven't had the types of attacts I have had in the past. When I feel like I am about to explode with stress for no reason at all now. I just go to the drive way and walk up and down saying and visualizing all kinds of good and joyous things happening to me and those around me world wide. |

i just found a new way to relieve myself of stress, and that's to repeat everything my husband says back to him in a robot voice. _________________ There is no theory of evolution, just a list of creatures Chuck Norris allows to live.

Hello Soulsearcher,
Great thread on Stress!
Stress is a major problem in the world, rapidly becoming an epidemic. Everyone handles stress differently. Some people thrive on it and seem to shake off the negative effects of stress. Other people suffer serious consequences such as headaches, illness, tenseness and more. Over a long period of time, stress may cause you physical damages to your body.

| Stress can sometimes be a positive thing too. It can force you to be self-motivated to travel further than you ever thought you could. Make you stronger and more self-sufficient in many things that you do. |
